2012 Fixtures

2012 Fixtures Announced

I am now able to confirm the 2012 blind cricket fixture list. The fixtures were drawn up taking into account numerous requests from the clubs as well as travel requirements and distances travelled.

Each club has today received their fixtures and they all now have until the end of January to negotiate any changes, so this list is only provisional.

Taking that into account, here are some of the highlights:

BCEW League Champions Sussex Sharks begin their defence with an away trip to Northants Steelbacks on Saturday 28th April and they also face 2008, 2009 and 2010 league winners South Wales Dragons in Wales during the first month of the season.

Saturday May 5th sees the start of the BBS Primary Club National Knockout Cup with the preliminary round. This will see competitive debuts for Berkshire Stags, Nottinghamshire VICC and Somerset VICC, coincidentally they all have home draws. Somerset look to have the greatest chance of progressing as they host Durham VICC who themselves have only played one previous competitive match.

The following weekend the BCEW Bill Frindall Memorial Twenty20 Cup starts as Metro host T20 cup holders Yorkshire VICC in the preliminary round.

May 26th until June 5th will incumpus the Blind Cricket Ashes as England attempt to retain the trophy against Australia.

When domestic cricket restarts on June 9th the BBS Cup quarter finals take place with 2011 winners Warwickshire Bears v Metro the obvious highlight.

Picking out a couple of other games in June, Metro v Yorkshire and Hampshire v Sussex look like exciting games in the BCEW League.

The BBS Cup semi finals are on July 7th and if they both progress there will be a lot of interest in the potential Yorkshire VICC v South Wales Dragons clash. Those two sides also face each other in the league in July.

Also in July last seasons bottom two face off as Northants Steelbacks face Metro Devils. The top two from last year also face each other at the end of July as Yorkshire VICC host Sussex Sharks and plenty of people will be very interested in Metro’s progress in late July as they face Sussex and South Wales.

August starts with 3 of the 4 Twenty20 Cup quarter finals, Sussex hosting Metro or Yorkshire is the tie of the round, although Durham hosting Warwickshire will also prove an interesting clash.

The BBS Cup final is in the middle of August, date and venue to be confirmed.

The league season is scheduled to end on August 25th and the two stand out fixtures are Hampshire v South Wales and Warwickshire v Yorkshire.

The2012 season ends in September, the development tournament is planned for the second weekend of September again and Twenty20 finals day is planned for the week after, but venues have not been confirmed yet so these dates are not set in stone.

For full fixtures please contact your club. Once the full list is confirmed at the end of January the fixtures will be published online.

  1. Hi
I’m the Web Editor for Metro. Please could you let me know when an up-to-date fixture list is published, so I can provide a link to it on the Metro site? I think you were expecting to be able to do this by end January, but I can’t find it.
    Many thanks.
